At least 45 people killed in attack on Nigeria village

The attacks underlined the diversity of Nigeria's security threats that persist in the absence of a robust police force and efficient judicial system. The commissioner added that the bodies had been recovered from Gwaska village on Saturday.

"Also the armed bandits razed down the village, which has about 3,000 inhabitants, completely". Also vigilantes make u-turn with handful of survivors and injured people. One of the local vigilante men disclosed that the casualties might be more, stressing that he and other members of his team were yet to visit the scene to ascertain the situation.

The CP also confirmed that the incident occurred in Gwaska, a Birnin Gwari village close to Zamfara State.

Governor Nasir El-Rufai of Kaduna has described the killing of 27 persons in Birnin Gwari Emirate of the state as "unfortunate".

El-Rufai, who spoke through his Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Mr. Samuel Aruwan, on Sunday, condoled with the people of the Birnin-Gwari Emirate Council.

In a statement, the local government said it is concerned by the incessant banditry attacks in the region and has been engaging with the federal government on the matter.

He also called on the State Emergency Management Agency to send relief materials to the victims of the attack.
