Cardiff City will join Wolverhampton Wanderers in the Premier League next season after winning promotion on the final day of the Championship season.

Cardiff City owner Vincent Tan has revealed that he wants to "follow the formula" that Burnley have used in the Premier League. "I think he'll admit himself that we don't always play the prettiest but we come out with results".

His only appearance for Fulham came in a UEFA Europa League match against Danish side Odense Boldklub in December 2011.

"The team has been strong all year and to finish the way that we did was fantastic", he told Cardiff City FC reporters.

"I've got a great bunch of lads", Warnock said.

When Warnock was appointed in October 2016, Cardiff were second from bottom of the Championship.

Despite working with modest means, the veteran manager signed resourcefully to assemble a group of players in whom he instilled a tireless work ethic and bloody-minded will to win.

Etheridge also made history with the national team earlier this year when the Azkals sealed their first-ever AFC Asian Cup appearance with a 2-1 victory over Tajikistan last March at the Rizal Memorial Football Stadium in Manila. "There's not many words you can say really, it's just unbelievable".

With 19 clean sheets Etheridge has enjoyed an excellent season and won over those Cardiff supporters who wondered whether he was up to the job.

For context, only the top two teams in the Championship are awarded automatic promotion to the Premier League, while the next four best teams battle for one spot in the promotion playoffs.
