The Brazilian team doctor, in France for Neymar's tests, also ended up diagnosing the knee injury of PSG and Brazil right-back Dani Alves which ruled the 35-year-old out of the World Cup.

Though, he feels he will be fit for his side's World Cup opener against Switzerland on June 17, he has now casted doubts over his mental state following the injury.

Many Paris Saint-Germain fans will have breathed a little easier when they saw Neymar's social-media activity this morning.

'At the moment, all I can tell you is I'm anxious about what's coming up. And it may turn out that he has already made his last appearance for PSG, with Real believed to have held secret talks in March over the 26-year-old's proposed return to Spain.

Neymar has endured a turbulent year at PSG and Unai Emery's exit at the end of the season will not alter his desire to leave.

Despite settling in Paris, he's been heavily linked with Real Madrid, and manager Emery - set to depart in the summer - wasn't amused when a Spanish journalist queried the status of their former superstar.

Zidane has said that talk of summer signings can wait until after the Champions League final, but the Frenchman insisted that Neymar "would be compatible" with Cristiano Ronaldo when questioned on the topic.

"Today, I am better", Neymar said. "What I miss from Barcelona and about Barcelona is these two, due to the joy we had on a daily basis". So good players can always play together.

'I haven't asked Neymar personally because I don't get involved in these things. We have to finish this season, the rest will come after, ' he said.

Brazil's star striker Neymar admits "fear" ahead of his return for the World Cup after a lengthy layoff following surgery for a broken bone in his foot.
