Despite harassment allegations, Jeffrey Tambor is returning to 'Arrested Development'

73-year-old Jeffrey Tambor will be returning to his role as George, Sr.in the fifth season of Netflix original series "Arrested Development", it's been confirmed.

Tambor starred in Amazon's transgender-themed comedy Transparent as ageing trans woman Maura Pfefferman. Netflix did not address the allegations stemming from his time at Amazon's Transparent.

Allegations against Tambor were brought forth in November by actresses Van Barnes and Trace Lysette, who accused him of making "many" unwanted "sexual advances and remarks" toward them that at times "got physical".

It is not clear if there were any discussions about pulling Tambor from the show or not using the scenes in which he appeared.

Tambor's denied the allegations, saying, "I am profoundly disappointed in Amazon's handling of these false accusations against me".

"I am even more disappointed in Jill Soloway's unfair characterisation of me as someone who would ever cause harm to any of my fellow cast mates".

Netflix has not yet announced a return date for Arrested Development, which aired for three seasons on Fox from 2003 to 2006 before being revived in 2013 for a 15-episode fourth season on Netflix. "I have never been a predator-ever", he said.

"I am deeply sorry if any action of mine was ever misinterpreted by anyone as being sexually aggressive or if I ever offended or hurt anyone", Tambor responded when the allegations were reported.

Alia Shawkat however was more reserved in her praise, and said it was "sad" to hear about the situation, referring to Tambor's accusers as "victims" who need "to be heard just as much".

It's unclear how extensive Netflix's investigation into Tambor's behavior was, but insiders believe the service won't experience blowback because there's no evidence of any imappropriate behavior on the "Arrested" set.

As for when the fifth season will drop, "soon" was as close as the announcement would take us, but there are suspicions that it could be at the end of this month.
