He captioned the post in part: 'I am so overjoyed that we will have the opportunity to finish the story the first four seasons of gotham have begun to tell'. By getting to this point, Gotham will get to focus on Bruce Wayne turning into Batman, but the question still remains on how they will get there.

An episode count for Gotham Season 5 has not yet been determined, but it's possible this upcoming season could consist of only 13 episodes as opposed to the traditional 22.

Jeremiah warns a skeptical Gordon of more destruction coming Gotham's way, and Gordon is forced to make a potentially devastating decision. Indeed, syndication can be a lucrative venture, and no doubt Warner Bros. The pickup will allow producers to properly "wrap up" the Batman prequel saga, with the final season focusing on Bruce's transformation into Batman.

One of the pressing issues is that networks are looking for more in-house content, especially over at FOX in light of the Disney and 20th Century FOX merger.

Details on when the final season of Gotham will air will come later this week when FOX announces its fall scheduled but rumors say the Batman prequel may end up as a mid-season show that will pick up after the National Football League season has finished in January.

Gotham, meanwhile, was never a ratings breakout for Fox but has been a reliable procedural with a DC Comics twist.

- So the good news is that the show isn't done just yet, but the bad new is that the end is near.

Aided by lead-out The Orville, Gotham had a fairly decent fall considering its move to Thursdays, improving the time slot from last season and keeping its head above water.

The show always premieres in Fox's traditional late September release window, usually right around the autumnul equinox.
