KU men's golf team wins Pacific Regional, advances to NCAA Championships

Whatever he comes up with, it will make sense. The 10-under-par closing round proved to be the best final-round score of day and jumped BYU into a second-place tie with North Florida, just one shot behind No. 3-ranked Oklahoma.

The final four holes of round two will be resumed at 6 a.m. today, with round three to follow.

The NCAA Championships will be held on May 25-30 in Stillwater, Oklahoma.

"Getting off to a solid start in the first round at an NCAA Regional is pivotal, and at the end of the day, that's exactly what we did", Alabama head coach Jay Seawell said. "It was good to see them play well on a week when there are a lot of good teams here". Sophomore Quade Cummins and junior Blaine Hale both finished in the top five to help the Sooners advance. Despite the 73, Hale still finished fourth in the medalist standings.

While the Mids struggled in the opening round (323, +35), they rallied to shoot 302 (+14) and 296 (+8) in the final two rounds.

One of its best rounds of the season wasn't enough to get the Coastal Carolina men's golf team into its fifth NCAA Championship in program history. "If you hit a bad shot and get out of position, get it back into position, salvage a bogey and move on".

"It was a little bit of a surprise for me", Weston said. "I hit it over a tree. To go out at the NCAA Regional, in the final round with all that pressure - that's impressive", he added. Neither carded an under-par round and four of their six rounds were over par. Riley, who entered the regional ranked No. 21 in the nation, collected an eagle on the par 4, 415-yard 10 hole to highlight a 3-under par back nine.

Hybl didn't indicate any changes were due to his lineup. Fishburn birdied three holes on the final day to finish just one shot behind North Florida's Travis Trace, who won the individual title with a 70-70-65-205 (-11).

Obecny had a pretty clean round on Wednesday, shooting a 1-over par 73 thanks to two bogeys, one birdie and 16 pars. Over the final 36 holes on Tuesday and Wednesday, the Cougars were the best team on the course, going 20-under.
