Manchester United players look terrified of Jose Mourinho, says Paul Merson

So many times this season we talked about David De Gea, but we have to do that again.

Pascal Gross' victor for the Seagulls not only secured their place in next season's edition, but also means the Red Devils still need a point from their final two games after both Tottenham and Liverpool failed to close the gap.

However, the difference between Ferguson's fine margins and Mourinho's are that the former won the two major trophies as well as the league when he fell just on the right side of the line, while the latter won the League Cup and the Europa League, and this season he's banking on the FA Cup.

There have been 370 matches in the Premier League so far this season and this was one of the worst of the lot.

West Ham defender Pablo Zabaleta insists he's happy where he is. He had a more comfortable second half as United struggled to carve out opportunities. Social media is full of United fans claiming it's unacceptable for United to settle for this current situation but that is a spoilt mentality. Man United have secured a Champions League spot. Wenger said the move was "inevitable" because the big clubs would want a bigger slice of the money that comes into football and would be less willing to share it with their smaller rivals. It's a big achievement for us.

'You watch Manchester City, Tottenham, Chelsea and Liverpool play - and sometimes Arsenal - and you can see the patterns of their attacking play. United are now second, that's progress.

"Taking the positives out the match with Manchester United, it was a clean-sheet and another point on the board", he added.

"Even those ones who will probably play the cup final, to rest for a couple of weeks is not the best preparation for that".

'Every time a Manchester United player misses a chance they always run back and look at Mourinho in the dugout - they look petrified, ' Merson told Sky Sports. But with City 19 points ahead of United there was no sense of elation at the final whistle from the Red Devils. I know them better than anyone.

United were developing cohesion and, after Adrian's parry of an Alexis Sanchez strike, Shaw thumped the rebound against the base of the post via a vital touch off the goalkeeper's boot.

"You could say that was a risk and if it hadn't worked, you could probably be critical".
