MSU, Ole Miss men's golf teams earn NCAA invites

The Nevada men's golf team is headed to NCAA Regionals for the first time since 2007.

University of Arkansas, Fayetteville Coach Brad McMakin, who led the Sooners to the 1989 NCAA championship during his playing days, is leading the Razorbacks into their 11th consecutive NCAA regional. Ranked in the top 10 on CSU's career scoring chart, junior Jake Staiano is the only CSU player in this year's lineup with postseason experience, having qualified as an individual for last year's Austin Regional and tying for 38th.

MI makes its 16th-consecutive appearance in the NCAA Championship, and 20th appearance overall.

Last year, FSU braved the chilly conditions out at its regional in Sammamish, Wash., in the Great Northwest and finished in the Top 5 to reach the NCAA Championship.

"We have good memories from The Scarlet Course in 2002 and 2013, so I feel pretty comfortable with the course", Tech head coach Greg Sands said, according to Tech Athletics.

MSU and Ole Miss will be paired in the College Station Regional at Traditions Club on May 14-16 in Bryan, Texas.

IL will contest a 13-team field that includes Big Ten foes Northwestern, Penn State and Michigan State as well as Oklahoma State, Texas Tech, UNLV, Wake Forest, Tennessee, Louisville, Jacksonville, Yale and Cleveland.

"It would've been really cool to, you know, have I guess kind of have video documentation of our time at Oklahoma State", said Fowler, who played for the Cowboys from 2007-09. The other top seeds in Norman are No. 27 Florida State, No. 26 North Florida and No. 25 Pepperdine. They want to advance and make the final site. Past year the Penguins played at MI.

The 2018 NCAA Division I Men's Golf Championships selections announcement will take place next Wednesday, May 2 at 6 p.m. ET, on Golf Channel, during Golf Central, and streamed live on the Golf Channel website.

Sam Houston earned its way into the field with a win at the Southland Conference Tournament at Stonebridge Country Club in McKinney and will be making their third appearance in the NCAA Tournament.

Preparation for the biggest stage of the year is no different than in years past for Milkman, as the Racers have spent most of the week working on their game at Miller Memorial Golf Course.
