Roseanne Barr's TV show cancelled after Twitter race row

Roseanne Barr's TV show cancelled after Twitter race row

Late Tuesday, Barr tweeted a second apology to the writers and co-stars of the show and urging people not to feel sorry for her.

Oh boy. Roseanne Barr is now claiming that her racist tweet about Valerie Jarrett was the result of taking the sedative Ambien - and her reasoning is NOT going over well on Twitter.

Jarrett, speaking Tuesday at MSNBC's town hall on "Everyday Racism in America", said she's "fine" following Barr's remarks - in which the actress said Jarrett, an African-American who was born in Iran, was as though "muslim brotherhood & planet of the apes had a baby".

The "Roseanne" star says she regrets her tweet more than losing her show.

But Barr's apology wasn't enough.

ICM Partners said in a statement Tuesday that Barr's tweet was "disgraceful", "unacceptable" and "antithetical to our core values".

Gilbert, who plays Barr's daughter on the ABC sitcom, tweeted that Barr's comments are "abhorrent and do not reflect the beliefs of our cast and crew or anyone associated with our show".

"I did something unforgiveable so do not defend me", Ms. Barr wrote. There were nine episodes in Season 10, and 13 episodes were ordered for Season 11, according to Deadline. By the way, George Soros is a nazi who turned in his fellow Jews 2 be murdered in German concentration camps & stole their wealth-were you aware of that?

"Roseanne Barr's comments were appalling and reminiscent of a horrific time in our history when racism was not only acceptable but promoted by Hollywood".

Barr recently shared how excited she was to get a phone call from the president congratulating the show's successful return in March.

The revival of the comedy was a surprise smash for ABC, owned by the Walt Disney Co., and was counted on to lead the network's fortunes next season.

In any case, the fictional Roseanne never shied away from talking about money, as it was a central theme throughout the series. Roseanne made a choice.

Barr loves Trump, her character loves Trump, and Trump loves her. She then plugged her next engagement, which is appearing on "The Joe Rogan Experience" podcast on Friday. "I am now leaving Twitter". Earlier this week, she attacked Chelsea Clinton and retweeted a message from former National Security Advisor Michael Flynn's son.

"He talked about jobs, Jackie", Roseanne says of the president.

After not mentioning Barr's firing in a campaign-style rally in Tennessee Tuesday night, President Donald Trump broke his silence on Twitter.

Viacom also said it's pulling Roseanne reruns from its cable networks Paramount Network, TV Land and CMT as of Wednesday, a representative confirmed to CNET. Consulting producer Wanda Sykes said she was quitting the Roseanne show and Barr said she was quitting Twitter.
