Russian Federation backtracks on Syrian missile sale after Netanyahu visit

"It is true that Iran and Russian Federation are allies in Syria, but there are differences between them about the future control of this country, and who gets more spoils". The grouping includes Kazakhstan, Belarus, Armenia and Kyrgyzstan. German Chancellor Angela Merkel spoke with President Putin of Russian Federation, and UK PM Theresa May has talked to Mr Trump.

A flurry of diplomatic activity is under way to rescue the Iran nuclear deal after President Donald Trump's decision to withdraw the USA from it and bring back sanctions against Tehran.

EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Federica Mogherini is scheduled to host the talks between the foreign ministers of Britain, France and Germany and Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif on Monday in Brussels, her office said in a statement Friday. "Obviously we need the only country that can unilaterally destroy this agreement to stay committed, which is Iran".

Iranian President Hassan Rouhani said Thursday, also during a phone conversation with Erdogan, that Europe and the other participating countries should clearly define their stances to salvage the deal.

She added that the US can not undo the agreement by pulling out, saying: "this deal is not a bilateral treaty". He added: "The Russian President and members of the Security Council had 'a detailed exchange of views on this issue'".

The President of Russia Vladimir Putin wished the new head of the government of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan "success in this responsible post".

Mr Putin warned of the threat of "aggressive nationalism" and "claims to exceptionalism" at a World War II victory parade in Red Square on Wednesday.

"Given the unilateral withdrawal of the United States from the Iranian deal, this meeting is of great significance, and everyone understands that", Ushakov was quoted as saying by Interfax news agency.

A day later, Iran launched 20 missiles and rockets at Israel, which retaliated by wiping out almost all of Iran's military infrastructure in Syria.
