Suns Win Draft Lottery, Kings, Hawks to Pick 2nd, 3rd

For the first time in franchise history, the Phoenix Suns were awarded the first overall pick in the NBA Draft, winning the 2018 NBA Draft Lottery held tonight in Chicago.

The Suns landed No. 1 in the 2018 NBA Draft Lottery and maybe they have Josh Jackson to credit for their good fortune as the rookie said he wore his lucky underwear.

"This is a historic night for the Phoenix Suns", general manager Ryan McDonough said in a statement. The Sacramento Kings got the second pick and the Atlanta Hawks will pick third.

The draft will be held June 21 at Barclays Center in NY.

It's part of a big week already for the Suns, who introduced Igor Kokoskov as their new coach Monday and now will have the chance to pick No. 1.

But the pick conveyed to the Sixers and the will be the 10th overall selection in this year's draft. "I think we'll have a great choice, no matter who we select".

There was also the draft lottery party in Talking Stick Resort Arena, and you better believe it was hype when the announcement came.

And Kokoskov is particularly familiar with Slovenia's Luka Doncic, who will be coming to the National Basketball Association from Real Madrid. "We're going to do our job and obviously, I'm glad that we played the last two years to develop guys and try to win games".

The Orlando Magic will pick sixth, followed by the Chicago Bulls seventh and Cleveland Cavaliers eighth.

Now we wait until June 21, when the NBA Draft occurs!

But the following is my first post-lottery mock draft. I didn't even know if I would get drafted, to be honest with you, even though I had a college career that was a lot different than most players.

But of all the players who will be available at 10 overall, which fit the 76ers roster, and could serve as the missing piece in a championship puzzle?

The Charlotte Hornets will go 11th, the Los Angeles Clippers will get 12th and 13th - the former coming from the Detroit Pistons - while the Denver Nuggets get 14th pick. The top three spots were determined by the lottery, and then spots 4-14 fell in line of reverse order of record.
