Dennis Rodman will be in Singapore for Trump-Kim summit

The Washington Post speculated last week that - in an effort to avoid insulting Kim by offering to pay directly - the USA government was trying to find a "discreet way" to pay for the North Koreans' share of the summit. However, North Korea still operates a small embassy in Singapore.

The former NY mayor, now Trump's legal adviser, said there was no choice but to cancel the summit after Kim Jong Un insulted the vice president and threatened nuclear war.

But the tropical getaway would only be an option if the summit is successful- an outcome that falls into Kim's lap, Trump's advisers have told him.

"The advance team in Singapore is finalizing preparations and will remain in place until the summit begins", said Press Secretary Sarah Sanders announcing the timing of the meeting.

On Friday Trump appeared to play down the expectations, saying the unprecedented summit between the two countries will be the beginning of a process. He said he longer wanted to use the term "maximum pressure" for his policy on North Korea because the two countries were getting along.

"Our policy hasn't changed, and as the president stated, we have sanctions on, they're very powerful and we would not take those sanctions off unless North Korea denuclearized", Sanders said on Monday.

"I would like to see, and I think citizens around the world would like to see, the denuclearisation of North Korea and indeed the Korean Peninsula", Mr Shorten told reporters in Tasmania.

At the back are the national flowers of both countries - roses for the USA and magnolias for North Korea - and a dove with the words "world peace". "I think that has resonated to this whole point now". "One thing's for sure the ratings will be huge", a source said, according to the New York Post.
