Manchester United Star ‘Hours Away’ From Completing Transfer

Manchester United Star ‘Hours Away’ From Completing Transfer

While speaking to the PA Sport, he said, "To finish second and win the FA Cup is a successful season".

The West Ham star has been linked with a big money move to the north of England as Mourinho looks to bring in reinforcements for Manchester United behind Romelu Lukaku.

And Sharpe, who played for Sir Alex Ferguson's United side from 1988 to 1996, believes tensions will only rise if Mourinho does not change his approach.

"There are clubs with certain identities and United have never been a 1-0 team that sits back and rests on its laurels".

Mourinho couldn't fit the versatile Dutchman into his plans but there's hopes things could be different next season.

United could also do with someone like Fred and arguably one or two more signings in that position as Paul Pogba struggles to impress, while Ander Herrera was also less of a regular starter in the season just gone.

"Who wouldn't be?" he said during an appearance at a McDonald's community football day.

"I would say I am even further away from being exhausted now than I was a few years ago".

The former England global believes Mourinho's playing style is not suited to a club with attacking traditions like United and that if the Portuguese coaches side do not get off to a good start to next season the 55-year-old will start to come under some serious pressure from fans of the 20 times league champions.

Fred would offer enough defensive qualities to play in a double-pivot, but he would also pose enough of a threat going forward to diversify our attacking threat. They will be a team to watch. "It's too far away to be thinking about City, it should be about Tottenham and Liverpool".
