Merkel: EU will act against USA tariffs on steel, aluminium - worldwide

G7 leaders have since responded to the fractious meetings in Canada, and criticised President Trump's behaviour. Let's take a look at the story behind the photo.

French President Emmanuel Macron appears to command attention in a photo he shared to Twitter. Shinzo Abe of Japan looks on with a world-weary expression. "That was put out by my people", Trump told Stephanopoulos. BuzzFeed's source called Trump "a whirlpool" and "out of control".

Trouble for Trump began before he arrived in Canada. The G-8 was downgraded back to a G-7 following Putin's annexation of Crimea in 2014. The source did not say Trump explicitly said he wanted all German-made cars out of the US.

Mr Trump revoked his administration's support for the G-7 communique after Mr Trudeau's news conference. She added that with Trump's "unpredictable" leadership and the US turn toward isolationism, the European Union needs to hone its response to a raft of issues in an environment in which global institutions need to be "newly proven".

That wrestling cry would have been an apt announcement at the G-7 summit, what with the USA and other heads of state at each other's throats using the thrust and parry of rude remarks and social media to pummel each other.

According to Merkel, the return of Russian Federation in the G8 format is possible with visible progress in the implementation of the Minsk agreements.

The G7 summit was a "difficult" occasion, Theresa May has told MPs, with "candid discussions" between the U.S. president and other world leaders.

The leaders had been meeting at the Group of Seven summit in Quebec, Canada over the weekend. "It's kind of insulting", said Trudeau, noting that many "Canadians fought side-by-side with American soldiers".

"Canada does have a very big advantage over us". "Canadians, we're polite, we're reasonable, but we also will not be pushed around", said Trudeau. Speaking on the condition of anonymity a Canadian official told national broadcaster CBC that not only had Trudeau made these remarks prior to the meeting, on USA television last week, he had also informed Trump of his position before he went on air.

Canada's Justin Trudeau and other leaders had given closing press conferences and announced a US-backed joint statement. "Our tariffs are in response to his of 270 percent on dairy!" "International cooperation cannot depend on anger or small words".

Trump's late arrival also highlighted his early departure.

Other photos from the summit show Merkel and Trump in conversation. How about some more R29 goodness, right here?
