Protesters, Democrats want immigrant families reunited

On Thursday, divided congressional Republicans failed to pass one immigration reform Bill, and a second proposal that includes language ending family separations was put off until next week. "We will secure our borders..."

"Elect more Republicans in November and we will pass the finest, fairest and most comprehensive Immigration Bills anywhere in the world", he added in another tweet.

Merida-Galicia, who is being held in California, is just one of many incarcerated immigrant mothers whose attorneys tell similar stories about chaotic situations in which the mothers don't know where their children have been taken or how to contact them.

He accused Democrats of not truly wanting to solve the border crisis. Trump gave in to the pressure from the Democrats as well as his party the republican and the public outcry that requested him to act on the matter since it was not disgraceful but also inhumane.

Amid mushrooming bipartisan concern over depictions of terrified migrant children separated from their parents, Trump on Wednesday had abruptly reversed course and signed an executive order to overturn the policy, although up to 2,000 children are still believed to be separated from their parents.

Calling Democrats "obstructionists" and accusing them of not caring about border security, Trump tweeted Friday that voters need to elect more Republicans.

US President Donald Trump has told his fellow Republicans in Congress to "stop wasting their time" on immigration legislation until after the November elections.

Friday afternoon, Trump will meet at the White House with "angel families", or those who have had relatives killed by illegal immigrants - an issue the president has long felt strongly about.

"(He) wants Americans to believe that the hundreds of people we saw in this facility were a danger to them and to this country", the Himes said.

House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi said the more moderate Republican bill is "a compromise with the devil".

His opinion piece comes just a week after his appearance on Bill Maher's show in which he said the GOP was operating out of fear and two short days after Will seemingly made the case for Bill Weld to restore conservatism as our next president.

The columnist went on to rip Mr. Trump as a "Vesuvius of mendacities" before concluding: "In today's GOP, which is the president's plaything, he is the mainstream".

More than 2,300 children were taken from their families in recent weeks under a Trump administration "zero tolerance" policy in which people entering the USA illegally face being prosecuted. He said Democrats would be playing defense on the issue of families if Republicans were to force them to vote on a it. "You hear like they are better people than what we have, than our citizens, it is not true", he said. Trump's crackdown hasn't deterred them, at least not yet.

In abandoning the compromise bill and delaying a vote until after the November elections, Trump risks losing $23 billion in funding for border security included in the proposal, some of which would go toward building the wall along the US border with Mexico.

Trump's "zero tolerance" policy of prosecuting adults for entering the country illegally entails a process that typically takes many months. Doing so has been derisively called granting "amnesty" to those who entered the country illegally.
