Salman Khan’s ‘Race 3’ crosses Rs 100 crore milestone over opening weekend

Till now, Race 3 has grossed Rs 138.41 crore (nett Rs 106.47 crore) and Rs 55 crore in the worldwide markets.

Race 3 is now the sixth film to cross Rs 100-crore mark in 2018.

The Salman Khan box office charm shows no sign of fading.

However, if opening weekend results are to be compared then Sultan is way ahead of Race 3 at Rs 180 crore. On Friday (opening day), the film scored over Rs 29 crore and the next day, it made Rs 38.14 crore. Race 3 will cross the Rs 200 crore mark today at the ticket windows. The undiminished track record with films like Wanted (Rs 60.24 crore), Dabangg (Rs 138.88 crore), Bodyguard (Rs 148.86 crore), Ek Tha Tiger (Rs 198.78 crore), Kick (Rs 231.85 crore), Bajrangi Bhaijaan (Rs 320.34 crore) and Sultan (Rs 30.45 crore) had suffered a dent previous year with director Kabir Khan's Tubelight (Rs 119.26 crore). Superstar Salman Khan had all the reasons to celebrate the big festival as it was the day after Race 3 release and also little nephew Yohan Khan's birthday. At first spot is Padmaavat starring Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone which managed to collect NZ $ 419,161 (INR 1.98 crores).

Salman Khan to his credit now has a record of most number of flicks minting Rs 100 crore at the box office, leaving behind stars like Shah Rukh Khan, Akshay Kumar and Aamir Khan. Friday 29.17 crore, Saturday 38.14 crore, Sunday 39.16 crore.

Mr Adarsh also posted about Race 3's crucial Monday test. While Padmaavat had an opening collection of Rs 19 crore (excluding previews), Baaghi 2 earned Rs 25.10 crore on day one. And the mixed reviews haven't affected its box office performance yet. However, the question still remains if such feedback would dent or slow down Race 3, considering it is a Salman Khan movie. The Indian Express film critic Shubhra Gupta panned the Remo D'souza directorial.

Here are the top five weekend openers of 2018.

Salman's actioners are known to be no-brainers, but Race 3 takes "illogic" to another tangent.
