However, Kevin Durant and co were too much for James and the Cavaliers, with Golden State sweeping the series 4-0 to win their third title in four years. They probably would have lost even if LeBron's hand was healthy but it certainly didn't make things easier.

And not surprisingly, Kevin Love's name has been mentioned as the most tradeable asset now on the roster, especially when paired with the No. 8 overall pick in the 2018 NBA Draft.

The Cavaliers without a major overhaul won't be the best team in the East next year, and that makes the chances of a five-peat between Cleveland and Golden State very, very remote.

With the 2018 NBA Finals over in an anticlimactic sweep, the story in the sports world will now pivot to LeBron James, impending free agency and the best player on the planet deciding on his next destination.

James would instantly give the Trail Blazers the rebounding presence and late-game scorer they sorely lack. James last appeared on the cover of National Basketball Association 2K14 as a member of the Miami Heat, but this time is an even bigger milestone moment. Let's be honest though, it started as soon as the final buzzer sounded at the end of game four of the NBA Finals.

"People have been saying that for the past four years", Love said, per Matthew Florjancic of WKYC. I've always said that.

So the obvious question going into the offseason is what can anyone do to unseat them in the coming years? It always does. It's also good to be wanted. "This is the best place for me to just play ball, work on my game, play ball, and not care about [expletive] that normal National Basketball Association superstars are supposed to care about".

Now we know he did - physically.

A video of him exchanging elaborate handshakes with his sons immediately after Game 4 had some fans crying foul, as did the replay of his two-handed, off-the-backboard dunk in Game 3 that he finished with such force. "But after a game like that, I'm not in any position to talk about that".

I get it would be for LeBron James, but I'm not under the belief that you try to fix something that wasn't necessarily broken. I just saw something and I thought, yeah we got this. "I think I'm still learning".

My example for pride might be a bit different, but bear with me.

There will also be other factors that play into James' decision, as he takes a hard look at free agency for the first time since returning to the Cavs from Miami in 2014. He expressed on more than one occasion his desire to play with players who are not only talented, but cerebral as well and can think a play or two ahead, and no franchise has been better and no coach has been better at doing so over the past two decades than the Spurs.
