Cavs having 'good dialogue' with LeBron's management team

While Sexton apparently impressed the Cavs enough for them to make him the first point guard to come off the board, it begs questioning whether the move will be enough to entice James to remain with the team.

"We continue to have good dialogue with his management team", Altman told ESPN at the NBA Draft.

"I've been told that the only thing that'll keep LeBron James in Cleveland is if his lovely wife, Savannah, and those three attractive children of his say, 'Daddy ..."

In Cleveland, Sexton could possibly team up with four-time MVP LeBron James, assuming the superstar elects to re-sign with the Cavaliers this offseason.

The Cleveland Cavaliers have a lot of question marks surrounding the future of their franchise heading into the 2018 NBA Draft tonight in Brooklyn. The Cavs have gotten younger and because we have young guys now they need direction not just from the players perspective but from the coaching angle as well.

In what could be a post-King James rebuilding phase, Sexton obviously won't be replacing LeBron's production or winning touch, but he is capable of keeping the entertainment value high for Cleveland fans. Teammate Marvin Bagley III will likely go inside of the top-three picks tonight, but Carter could have an immediate impact on whoever drafts him as well. I'm just excited, man. It's possible James could choose to sign a one-year deal again with a player option and go through the free-agency dance again next summer.

Amid a bevy of reports that James is strongly considering leaving Cleveland to play somewhere else, the Cavs controlled all they could last night in deciding to draft highly touted former Alabama point guard Collin Sexton eighth overall.

Love averaged 17.6 points and 9.3 rebounds for Cleveland this season, and averaged almost 15 points per game throughout the postseason in their fourth straight NBA Finals run, too.

I've always said that.

Berger also noted that Cleveland's only real hope of retaining LeBron centers around the team potentially landing Walker in a trade.

Cleveland's starting point guards ranked 28th in points per game in 2017-18 (9.5) and last in assists per game (3.2), according to data compiled by ESPN Stats & Information. When guys start playing pick-up games, they'll be in that mix, if they continue on the path they're on, but there's no indication they wouldn't.

Tomorrow's National Basketball Association draft will play a big role in the Cavs' future. Leonard and Walker can both become free agents next summer.

The 33-year old James is coming off a year in which he carried the Cavaliers to their fourth straight Finals appearance, shouldering a massive load during the postseason.
