George Clooney 'thrown 20 feet in the air' in motorcycle accident

Video of George Clooney's nasty road accident has been released.

Actor George Clooney was taken to the hospital in Sardinia and released after his motor scooter and a vehicle crashed on a state road on the Italian island Tuesday, hospital officials said.

Surveillance video of the crash, apparently taken by a fixed security video, was obtained late Tuesday by the newspaper Corriere della Sera.

Clooney was seen leaving the hospital with his wife Amal Clooney in a private vehicle.

Clooney is thrown over the front of his bike and up in the air before landing on the asphalt, where the auto driver and other witnesses come to help.

"He is recovering at his home and will be fine", Clooney spokesman Stan Rosenfield told The Associated Press.

Clooney, 57, was riding the bike at Costa Corallina on the island of Sardinia when he was involved in a collision with a auto, according to Italy's TGR Rai Sardegna.

Clooney, 57, had just left his hotel on a motor scooter when he crashed into a small truck, Italy's Chi magazine said on its Web site. George has been working on his new project Catch 22 (based on the novel by Joseph Heller), with the star directing, producing and starring in the six-episode miniseries.

Clooney's wife, human rights attorney Amal Clooney, rushed to his side after the incident.
