Liverpool make offer for Roma's Alisson Becker but no fee agreed

Brazilian global Alisson is expected to sign for Liverpool on a five-year deal worth €75 million, a world record for a goalkeeper, media reports suggested on Wednesday (Jul 18).

Liverpool's need for a stable new number one was made clear both in the Champions League final and in pre-season, where current incumbent Loris Karius made high profile errors that have seen his position become seemingly untenable.

Liverpool and AS Roma have reached agreement on the transfer of 25 year old Brazilian goalkeeper Alisson Becker. Meanwhile, Real Madrid have reportedly taken a backseat in the Alisson pursuit, with Thibaut Courtois their priority now.

Alisson's signing is arguably the most important one in Liverpool's transfer window and club legend Graeme Souness thinks it's the right decision.

"The team and squad is in a really good moment".

Alisson has been spending time with his family on holiday since Brazil exited the World Cup but will now deal with his business with Liverpool before returning for the rest of his short summer break.

Liverpool youngster Rhian Brewster has committed his future to the club by signing a five-year contract, his first professional deal with the Reds, reported Reuters. As a wise man once sang: you can't always get what you want.

"In this moment we miss three or four offensive players. We've only sold two players and we've signed 10, and we're going to continue looking for players to make us an even bigger club".

The World Cup and two-time Champions League victor spent one year at the Porto Alegre club before retiring, age 41.

About 300 fans came to Kansai airport at Osaka in western Japan to greet Iniesta when he arrived in the early morning, according to a Vissel Kobe spokesman.

"I understand the fans" view.
