Trump says it's looking ever more like his campaign spied upon illegally

News organizations gained access to a heavily redacted version of the document referenced by the memo last week. He blamed Trump for making public House Republicans' initial memo about the FISA applications, a move by Trump that the congressman called "nakedly political and self-interested, and created to to (sic) interfere with the Special Counsel's investigation".

Raju then said that he tried to ask Nunes if he actually read the 412-page warrant application, and instead of answering the question, he once again turned the conversation back towards CNN, claiming that Raju was ignoring the criticism that he had just leveled against CNN.

A FISA warrant allows authorities to wiretap someone who is suspected of spying with or for a foreign government.

The dossier was funded by the Hillary Clinton campaign and the Democratic National Committee and contain multiple salacious allegations against Trump. "The former director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation himself said that some of the material that was used was 'salacious and unverified, '" Hurd said, invoking a phrase then-FBI director James Comey had used in congressional testimony.

Steele is referenced in the warrant only as a US person.

Hurd repeated that the dossier information was unverified in an appearance on ABC News' "This Week" on February 4.

"The evidence is overwhelming and the president needs to say that and act like it", said Republican Rep. Trey Gowdy, the chairperson of the House Oversight Committee, in an interview with "Fox News Sunday" aired hours before Trump's tweet.

However, Justice Department officials later on Wednesday said Nunes still had not reviewed the mostly unredacted application, but that about 30 lawmakers from the House and Senate have viewed the classified documents. The judges might have made a defensible ruling given the information before them.

"It appears there is a lot of additional material, nearly certainly from other sources".

"While I'm pleased that these conspiracy theories are finally being put to rest, the release of these materials during a pending investigation should not have happened".

The documents released over the weekend were part of officials' application for a warrant to the secretive foreign intelligence surveillance court.

"I cease to be amazed by how much stuff we release publicly now", Burr said. Released online under the Freedom of Information Act, the documents note the political ties to Steele's work but said it still believed some of his report to be "credible".

That's not what the documents show, though.

First, announce that the information released says the exact opposite of what it really says.

Mueller is investigating whether there was any collusion between Russian Federation and Trump's campaign.

Chesney said it is common practice not to name individuals in warrant applications, in order to protect the privacy of those who are not the subject of investigations. The document adds that "The FBI speculates that the identified USA person was likely looking for information that could be used to discredit [Trump's] campaign". Avoided talking about it being the Clinton campaign behind it.

What do FISA warrants do?

"I wish it had gone differently".

Conaway's office also declined to comment on the newly released documents. "There [were] sound reasons as to why judges issued the FISA".

More: Who is former Trump adviser Carter Page?

Page had ended his role with the campaign before the warrant application was filed. "The FBI believes that Page has been collaborating and conspiring with the Russian government", the document said.
