West Ham confirm signing of Jack Wilshere on three year contract

The former England worldwide left the Emirates after the expiry of his contract, opening up a free transfer to West Ham, with whom he's signed a three-year deal.

Following his departure from Arsenal towards the end of June, the 26-year-old is presently a free agent and was set for a move to Fenerbahce according to reports.

"People will have seen the picture of me in a West Ham shirt and I've got good memories of my childhood supporting West Ham, watching them at Upton Park".

"I hope that, next week, or before we finish July, the fans of West Ham will have good news", he told the club's official website .

Hampered by injuries in the past, the England global made 20 league appearances in the 2017-18 season but now starts a fresh chapter of his career. He will join up with Pellegrini's squad for their pre-season training camp in Switzerland.

Jack Wilshere says he is delighted to have completed a move to West Ham and revealed the key role new boss Manuel Pellegrini played in convincing him to switch allegiances.

"I think it was a number of things", he said. "The manager [convinced me],..."

West Ham will pay an initial £37m for Anderson.

"Most importantly, he is hungry to play for West Ham, and determined to reproduce the level of performance that he has shown in the past".

"I want to be playing here in front of the Hammers, and my bond I've had with the club over my childhood will make it even more special".

West Ham appointed former Villarreal, Real Madrid and Manchester City coach Manuel Pellegrini as manager earlier in the summer, replacing David Moyes.

After spending the 2016-17 campaign on loan at fellow Premier League side Bournemouth, he returned to the Gunners and made 38 appearances last season but was not included in Gareth Southgate's England World Cup squad. Wilshere is not to be the last player West Ham sign, as they are heavily on the trails of Andriy Yarmolenko of Borussia Dortmund and a few others.
