Zimbabwean misery ends as Pakistan win 5-0

The swashbuckling 28-year-old batsman made his ODI debut just over a year ago and imposed his authority immediately in the game with 252 runs in just 4 innings, which included a superb century against India.

Pakistan will be playing to complete a series whitewash as they take on Zimbabwe in the fifth one-day worldwide at Bulawayo on Sunday.

Zaman passed 1 000 ODI runs in just his 18th innings, breaking the record of 21 innings held by five players, including Viv Richards and team-mate Babar Azam.

During his innings, Zaman also became the fastest batsman in ODI history to complete 1000 runs in the format during his knock.

Hosts Zimbabwe's misery ran along with the time as Pakistan ended the five match series with a complete white wash.

Batsman Imam ul Haq brought another laurel for Pakistan today by becoming first ever batsman in ODIs to score 4 centuries in 10 innings.

Sarfraz was satisfied to see the batsmen making the most of a good start and converting them into something substantial- a recurring theme in the batting department for the Men in Green over the course of the five-match series. Their in-form openers - Fakhar Zaman and Imam-ul-Haq laid the foundation for a big total by adding 168 runs for the first wicket.

While he missed out on what would have been his third hundred of the series, he set a string of records. He sits behind only Indian captain Virat Kohli, who scored 558 runs earlier this year against South Africa.

The opening duo added 704 runs as batting partners in five innings of the series, which is the most by any batting partner in a bilateral series.

Hamilton Masakadza and Tinashe Kamunhukamwe shared a 66-run opening stand, Zimbabwe's best of the series. The youngster has now managed to convert all his half-centuries into tons. But Prince Masvaure and Ryan Murray adopted a similar approach as they were content on batting out the overs, finding the odd boundary whenever a loose delivery was bowled.

So, they will be looking for a win to avoid the whitewash in their home.
