Alderweireld to tell Spur's: It's Man United or nothing

Though it's not stated in the report, it could be that the transfer won't happen because Mourinho has managed to have a breakthrough with Alderweireld.

Manchester United's transfer for Barcelona's Yerry Mina has reportedly fell through following a complication meaning they may have to turn their attention elsewhere.

Sky Sports News previously reported Manchester United's interest in Mina as they look for a new centre-back, but they are understood to be planning an offer for Leicester's Harry Maguire.

Jose Mourinho is confident of signing one more defender before next Thursday's deadline and Manchester United are largely expected to bring in a centre-back. And it seems like Tottenham are ready to cash in on Toby Alderweireld now. The report states that the player was close to signing a huge five-year deal with the Red Devils.

Alderweireld has always been manager Jose Mourinho's top target to strengthen the centre of defence, but Daniel Levy's reputation as a tough negotiator, especially with United, has once again proven to be the case.

Injuries and distractions due to the contract situation meant the former Southampton man went through a rough patch and lost his place to new signing Davinson Sanchez in Mauricio Pochettino's starting XI.

Mina impressed for his country at this summer's World Cup, scoring three goals as Colombia reached the second round, before being eliminated by Gareth Southgate's England side.

Alderweireld could wait a year to become available but Graves reckons he will be heading to Old Trafford in this window. The towering defender is regarded as one of the best in his position in the Premier League, despite going through a hard 2018-19 season.

The transfer window approaches its final days and a number of interesting rumors have been circulating as major clubs prepare for the 2018-2019 season.
