Dead fetus reportedly found on plane at LaGuardia Airport

Flight Tracker reports Flight 1942 left Charlotte at 8:56 p.m. Monday and arrived at LaGuardia at 10:44 p.m., about 20 minutes behind schedule.

A dead fetus was found on a plane from Charlotte Tuesday morning.

The crew called LaGuardia police the next day at 6:01 a.m., sources said.

An American Airlines spokesman confirmed that the incident is now under investigation.

The plane was later pictured being moved to a hanger as law enforcement began investigating the find.

Aja Worthy-Davis, a spokesperson for New York City's Office of the Chief Medical Examiner told USA TODAY the department is "investigating what we believe to be a human fetus found deceased on an airplane".

"We will release determination when the investigation is complete".

The account later tweeted to a frustrated customer that planes may be delayed "due to the medical needs of a customer". "Please check with @AmericanAir before your departure", the post said.

The Port Authority deferred questions to the Queens DA's Office, which said it was looking into the matter.
