Giuliani Preps Letter Expressing 'Real Reluctance' To Mueller Obstruction Questions

President Donald Trump tweeted on Sunday that the 2016 meeting at Trump Tower with top Trump campaign officials and a Kremlin-linked Russian lawyer was to get information on his opponent Hillary Clinton. This is not a routine thing politicians do to get information on their opponents. He went on to distance himself from Trump Jr. and the meeting: "I did not know about it!"

The meeting was attended by the president's son as well as Paul Manafort, then chairman of Trump's presidential campaign; Trump's son-in-law, Jared Kushner; and several Russians, including the lawyer, Natalia Veselnitskaya, and their representatives.

Trump's admission that his son's 2016 Russian meeting was to get information on Clinton runs counter to the narrative he has previously pushed about the meeting.

"Trump says son's Trump Tower meeting with Russians meant to "get information" on Clinton".

Political operatives on both sides of the aisle quickly said, no, they wouldn't have taken a meeting with a foreign operative and would have reported the offer to authorities.

Trump's attorney Jay Sekulow initially claimed that Trump was not involved in crafting Trump Jr.'s misleading statement.

Russian Federation has repeatedly denied claims it interfered in the November 2016 presidential elections, where Mr Trump defeated Democratic rival Hillary Clinton.

Donald Trump Jr's phone line disconnected on conservative radio host Laura Ingraham's show on Monday just as she was asking him about his Trump Tower meeting with Russians.

He said that Trump's legal team is inclined "at this point" to advise Trump not to agree to be interviewed by special counsel Robert Mueller, who is investigating Russian interference in the 2016 USA election and possible collusion between the Trump campaign and the Kremlin.

The New York Times reported last month that Mueller has been reviewing Trump's tweets as part of his probe into whether the President obstructed justice.

He said he and other Trump lawyers have been discussing the details of a draft version of the letter in recent days and hope to send it to Mueller "sometime on Tuesday or Wednesday". And this is what President Trump said. How did the president's circle explain that meeting back then? Prosecutors say Mr. Manafort did not pay taxes on the millions of dollars he earned as a lobbyist for Ukraine, which is enmeshed in a territorial dispute with Russian Federation over the Crimean Peninsula.

Moreover, contrary to Trump's assertion, there are extremely strict federal laws prohibiting foreign nationals from getting materially involved in USA elections.

Mueller would have the option to issue a subpoena compelling the president to testify if Trump chose not to be interviewed.

Meanwhile, Trump has been told by aides and lawyers to stop tweeting because he's he's setting himself up for a disaster. Dowd subsequently resigned from the Trump team. "They can also cause War!" Sekulow said this past weekend that he had been acting on "bad information" at the time.

"Emin just called and asked me to contact you with something very interesting", Goldstone wrote to Trump early June 2016. And at a trio of rallies, he escalated his already vitriolic rhetoric toward the media, savaging the press for unflattering coverage and, he feels, bias.
