FIFPro World XI Named at Prestigious FIFA Best Awards Ceremony in London

Do you think Modric deserved to beat Ronaldo and Salah to the award?

The FIFA Puskás Award is an award established on 20 October 2009 at the behest of then-president Sepp Blatter, in order to award the player, male or female, judged to have scored the most aesthetically significant, or "most beautiful", goal of the year.

FC Barcelona's Argentine forward Lionel Messi, and Juventus' Portugal forward Cristiano Ronaldo will not be attending The Best FIFA Football Awards 2018, Mundo Deportivo reported.

France boss Didier Deschamps was recognized as the best men's coach after leading his country to a World Cup win, 20 years after he'd won the tournament as a player.

Salah's goal in Liverpool's 1-1 draw against Everton was a mixture of strength and footwork.

Messi was also nominated for the Puskas Award for the best goal. "First of all I would like to congratulate Mohamed and Cristiano", he said.

Antoine Griezmann, Harry Kane and Kylian Mbappe make up the rest of the longlist, though Federation Internationale de Football Association world cup finalist and Federation Internationale de Football Association 208 tournament's Best player victor Modric is a clear favourite to grab the coveted award after captaining Croatia to the final of the World Cup as well as having a pivotal role in winning the Champions League with Real Madrid.

All three enjoyed great World Cup campaigns, with Courtois helping Belgium to a third-place finish.

"These things were not a burden, they only further motivated me", Modric said at the World Cup.

"I would like to thank those who voted for me". Though a female has yet to win the award, Irish professional Stephanie Roche was shortlisted to the top three in 2014. For all my teammates in the Croatia national team.

The award victor will emerge from a vigorous process which had a voting process involving fans, national team coaches and captains and journalists from across the globe.

Modric, who won the World Cup's Golden Ball and was only recently named UEFA's Player of the Year, has been handed yet another personal triumph off the back of an incredible season with Real and an impressive World Cup performance with Croatia.

The unforgettable overhead kicks of both Cristiano Ronaldo and Gareth Bale were sights to behold last season and there were several other strong contenders for the honour but Salah won out in the end.
