Serena Williams Responds To Her Catsuit Controversy By Playing In A Tutu

What do you think about the ban on Williams' tennis court fashion?

The superstructure for the open roof at Ashe trapped the muggy air and amplified the ardent cheering as Williams was introduced before her meeting with Poland's Magda Linette.

As for playing in a Tutu, Williams said it was "easy to play in" and "aerodynamic", which means we could possibly see more tutus from Williams, and maybe a full Sailor Moon-inspired outfit or a waterbender Katara-inspired look from Avatar: The Last Airbender.

Serena Williams' daughter, Alexis Olympia, is turning one on Saturday, but it will be free of fanfare, according to her mum.

Williams at the time took the announcement in her stride, describing her relationship with the French Open organisers as wonderful.

The tennis champion revealed that Olympian won't be celebrating her birthday as they belong to Jehovah's Witness church, a religious organisation that does not believe in birthday celebrations.

She took to the court at Flushing Meadows in a black, one-shoulder tutu.

Serena Williams was not the first to wear a catsuit - Anne White (right) wore a similar suit at Wimbledon 1985.

Williams came into this week in what amounts to a real slump for her, with losses in three of her past four matches.

"At points in the match I didn't play fantastic". It was still an unforgettable week for the Romanian, who became the world No. 1 for the first time by beating Jelena Ostapenko in the semifinals.

So far there has not been any comment from the officials at the U.S. Open about the outfit she wore for Monday's match.

But the tennis pro says her bounceback game is stronger than ever. "I've been wearing trousers in general a lot when I play, so I can keep the blood circulation going". "It feels really good", she told reporters. "I like the atmosphere in the tournament and in the city". It was hard with the humidity but I am happy where my game is at. Venus Williams will have a second round encounter against Camila Giorgi of Italy.

She said: "I nearly died after giving birth to my daughter, Olympia". It's a good thing for American tennis that the song could be re-worded to, 'Since You've Been Back!' "It's just a chance for them to just hit out".

Pospisil, ranked No 88 in the world, beat Lucas Lacko in straight sets to reach the second round of the US Open for the third time in his career. She stayed aggressive and closed it out, 6-3.
