Commission Withholds Khabib Nurmagomedov’s Check, but Conor McGregor Paid

The post-fight headlines have been dominated by the melee which marred the event as Nurmagomedov jumped out of the Octagon to confront McGregor's team while three members of Nurmagomedov's camp rushed the cage to attack McGregor.

Conor McGregor and Khabib Nurmagomedov got top billing at UFC 229, but Derrick Lewis stole the show.

The T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas was packed on Saturday as McGregor was making the much-anticipated return to UFC and taking on one of the best fighters in the MMA promotion brand. Why do people talk about me jumping over the cage? Religion, family, country. Throwing stuff in Brooklyn.

White said any other UFC fighters involved in the brawl would not fight in the organisation again.

The head of the Nevada Athletic Commission, Bob Bennett, told the Los Angeles Times he's launching a "comprehensive investigation" of the incident, and UFC president Dana White said late on Saturday it would not be surprising if Nurmagomedov receives a lengthy suspension and has his belt stripped. "The biggest night of the year, and I'm disgusted".

"The fans got an fantastic fight and a great show". "Khabib dominated the fight, won the fight by submission".

In a frenetic end to the pay-per-view event, Khabib jumped over the cage and started attacking McGregor's teammate who had apparently needled the Russian champion.

White said that the Nevada state authorities would likely take action, while Nurmagomedov has also had his prizemoney withheld. White told reporters for ESPN that the Nevada State Atheltic Commission is now holding both McGregor's and Nurmagomedov's fight checks until further notice.
