Huawei Mate 20 Launch Event: What Can We Expect?

"The HUAWEI Mate 20 Series is created to be the best "mate" of consumers, accompanying and empowering them to enjoy a richer, more fulfilled life with their higher intelligence, unparalleled battery lives and powerful camera performance", said Richard Yu, CEO of Huawei Consumer BG. Image Source: YouTube The Mate 20 Pro has a 6.4-inch curved OLED screen with 3120 x 1440 resolution, 19.5:9 aspect ratio and 86.90% screen-to-body ratio. While the entire front panel is occupied by the display of the smartphone, the back panel sports all the aesthetic differences.

Meanwhile, the 40 MP + 20 MP + 8 MP setup on the rear of the Mate 20 Pro is one of its most talked about features, and it doesn't disappoint.

The CPU configuration includes two Cortex A76 cores clocked at 2.6GHz, two Cortex A76 cores clocked at 1.92GHz, and four Cortex A55 cores clocked at 1.8GHz. It also has a nano memory card slot on board that supports up to 256 GB external storage. Porsche Design Mate 20 RS is coming on November 16, 2018. The phone has 6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage.

Mr Yu said that the new Mate 20 was faster, more powerful and would charge faster than any of its rivals.

No Mate series device has, however, made it to India before and the company has not made it clear yet if the new line-up will be launched in India.

The device runs EMUI 9.0 on top of Android 9.0 Pie. For selfies, the Mate 20 Pro uses a 24MP F2.0 sensor.

The Huawei Mate 20 Pro has a Leica triple camera setup, consisting of a wide-angle module (40mp, f/1.8 lens), telephoto module (8mp, f/2.4 lens), and a new ultra-wide-angle module (20mp, 16mm f/2.2 lens).

On the back, there's a camera module, placed right in the middle.

The Mate20 Pro boasts an on-screen fingerprint reader, meaning Huawei beat Apple in taking the feature mainstream. It turns out this is a huge 7.2-inch phone that wants to compete against the Galaxy Note 9 and the Nintendo Switch.

The company say they've a dual-flagship policy, and this phone is evidence of that.

It is IP68 rated, so you can dip it in water if that's a concern for you.

To make it truly gaming oriented, the Mate 20X has a 5,000 mAh battery life, nearly double that of competitors like the Switch or the Apple XS Max, and also features a Vapor Chamber alongside Graphene Film layers for cooling. Plus for the first time on any phone, there's support for 40W super charging. The three phones come at three different price points with the Lite version being the cheapest while the Pro version is the most expensive. The fast charging tech comes with safe certifications from TUV Rheinland. It's less intrusive than the Notch of other smartphones, and we think it's a sleek alternative. This includes a world-first feature that I wish would be implemented in more devices: backwards charging.

Moreover, the smartphone features the Dolby Atmos stereo speakers.
