Five-year-old Luke Vincent melted hearts around the world when he went straight in for a hug with the Duke of Sussex, before giving his beard a playful tug.

She said: "My first job when I was 14, I remember taking out the trash, all sorts".

Signs screaming "G'day Harry and Meghan" greeted the royal couple, who have received a warm welcome from fans throughout the start of their 16-day pacific tour.

In the pouring rain, as his wife Meghan held an umbrella above him, Prince Harry delivered a message of hope, telling the crowd that the best thing about coming to the country was the people.

Prince Harry also contributed to the conversation, opening up about the importance of seeking support from others.

The Duchess of Sussex delighted Gavin Hazelwood, 6, when she wore the pasta necklace he made her, during a walkabout at Government House Drive in Melbourne's Royal Botanic Gardens.

"He offered to stay for two weeks so we could have some more of the rain". Granted, she has worn her hair like this before - on the eve of her wedding day in May - but this is the first time we've seen it in the public eye, and we are seriously loving it.

A primary school student who stole the show from Prince Harry and Meghan in Dubbo, Australia, said he gave Harry a "big hug".

Meghan and Harry diligently inspected a scaled miniature Formula 1 auto designed and made by Trinity Grammar students, but as the mini vehicle zoomed down a makeshift track, Meghan jumped and covered her mouth, before nervously bursting into laughter.
