OnePlus 6T India launch: Price, specs and all you need to know

OnePlus has finally unveiled its latest new smartphone to the world - the OnePlus 6T. It also features an all-glass build, like the OnePlus 6, with Corning Gorilla Glass 6 protection. For those unaware, it's not the first time when the company has launched a "T" variant of the phone. With nearly every other flagship phone nearing the 4000 mAh mark, this is surely a smart upgrade from OnePlus.

A Chinese smartphone company whose high-end products are little known outside a tech-savvy niche entered the USA market on Monday with the backing of two key local allies - chipmaking giant Qualcomm and mobile operator T-Mobile US Inc - and no questions from USA regulators.

These conditions are mainly night-time and low-light shots, which, as a company representative conceded during the launch, left a lot to be desired for many 6 owners.

The display also serves as a home for an in-display fingerprint sensor, which is increasingly becoming popular with flagship Android smartphones. This is surely good news for consumers as we're now looking at about five hours of screen on-time with some battery life still left. The OnePlus 6T sports a 6.41-inch full-HD+ AMOLED screen, which is larger than the 6.28-inch option with similar resolution on the OnePlus 6. It's also the first OnePlus phone to have an in-display fingerprint sensor touted as the "Screen Unlock".

OnePlus is just one of the many smartphone vendors out there committed to launching 5G smartphones next year. There's no wireless charging despite the device coming with a glass back though.

Another welcome addition is a 3700mAh battery, which is a 23% bump over the 3300mAh on the predecessor.

One of the biggest reasons why the OnePlus 6 has been a major success this year, apart from the competitive pricing, of course, is its offering of the headphone jack.

The OnePlus 6T also features a software implementation called Smart Boost. The nightscape mode is preset of how we usually tune our cameras in the pro mode.

In terms of camera, the hardware remains unchanged with a 16MP f/1.7 main camera (Sony IMX 519) and a secondary 20MP f/1.7 (Sony IMX 376K) shooter. It runs on Android 9 Pie and will be available in midnight black and mirror black colours. The OnePlus 6T has been available for pre-order on Amazon India for a while, and the device will go on sale starting November 1 on the e-commerce platform as well as OnePlus.in. The base variant of the OnePlus 6T will retail for Rs. 37,999. There is a prominent removal as well - the OnePlus 6T foregoes the headphone jack, with users having to rely on the USB Type-C port or Bluetooth for their audio pairing needs.
