Trump Agrees With then-Senator Obama's Illegal Immigration Assessment

During a speech in September, the former president pointed out that the recent stretch of job growth numbers are roughly equal to Obama's last few years in office.

Clark County Commission Chairman and Democratic gubernatorial candidate Steve Sisolak, former U.S. President Barack Obama and U.S. Rep. and U.S. Senate candidate Jacky Rosen (D-NV) at the Las Vegas rally on Monday.

While a majority of recessions since 1950 began while a Republican was president, it's hard to pin an economic downturn just on a president's - or one party's - policies at the time. "This November's elections are more important than any in my lifetime and that includes when I was on the ballot".

The rally was focused on the state's Senate race where Democrat Jacky Rosen is challenging the Republican senator now in office, Dean Heller.

"We are a generous and welcoming people here in the United States", Obama says in the 31-second clip.

On Twitter, President Trump said, "I agree with President Obama 100%!" and posted a video of Obama speaking his mind on illegal immigration. In Nevada, early voting is already underway. Unlike some, I try to state facts. I believe in facts.

"I can't just turn a blind eye to what's happening all around me".

"When you hear all this talk about economic miracles right now, remember who started it", Obama said, adding that he was a politician who based his words and his policies on facts, an apparent allusion to Trump, who has had to back off of his own remarks on numerous occasions because they proved to be factually incorrect.

He told a captivated audience of 2,000 people in Las Vegas the consequences for not voting in this race "would be profoundly risky for our country".

Obama is the latest in a string of national surrogates who have visited Nevada in the 2018 midterm cycle and Democrats are hoping some Hollywood star power will invigorate their base.

Rosen is a first-term congresswoman from the Las Vegas area who is taking on incumbent Republican Dean Heller.
