Accelerate wins Breeders' Cup Classic at Churchill Downs

Zero for 44 tries was a thing of the past, and Sadler wants to leave it there.

Rosario now leads in the race for the Bill Shoemaker Award, given to the most outstanding jockey of the Breeders' Cup World Championships at Churchill Downs.

It was a triumph of "sheer determination" and "class", according to Gosden, who revealed she had an injury-disrupted year including a temperature in the weeks before the Arc. Despite being drunk enough to think this was a good idea, he managed to make his way onto an actual horse before anyone noticed he shouldn't be there.

"We were very confident", said winning trainer Chad Brown, "but you never know in an worldwide field like this. He's really a champion".

"He broke really well", Rosario said of Accelerate.

Delgado said Christian's on-site presence helps horsemen with any level of interest in Breeders' Cup, informing them on everything from eligibility to purses to what Breeders' Cup has to offer and what to expect in making the trip.

This year, the Breeders' Cup is being held at Churchill Downs in Louisville, Kentucky.

The first horse to sweep the Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe and the Breeders' Cup Turf in the same year, Enable has now won 10 of her 11 races.

"She has had a clear run since the Arc, she obviously took longer to come out of the Arc (than usual) which is understandable". A decision as to whether Enable remains in training will be made later. The Kentucky Oaks victor provided trainer Brad Cox with his first Cup win. It was the seventh win for the four-year-old Irish-bred filly who was sent off as the 3-1 second choice. The 4-year-old British filly became the first horse to win both prestigious races in the same year.

Well Done Fox, a 2-year-old son of Acclamation, will enter in this Friday's Breeders' Cup Juvenile Turf Sprint as this weeks' only runner to don the King Power colors of his late owner Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha, who died just four days ago in a helicopter crash. "He's finished now, he's been a fabulous horse, with a great attitude to life". "I'm not saying it was, but that was a pretty big compliment". She provided Ortiz, Jr. with his fourth Breeders' Cup win and Brown with his 11th. Restless Rider chased the pace and edged Vibrance for second. "We're prepared for the worst and hope for the best".

It was the fifth Breeders' Cup win for trainer John Gosden. Jockey Paco Lopez earned his first Breeders' Cup victory. However, last Sunday Castellano got aboard City of Light and worked a half-mile in 47 3/5, the third fastest move of 113 at the distance that morning. For him to win all those great races, for me to win the Santa Anita Handicap, was probably No. 1 or 2 on my bucket list, being a California guy my whole life. "Everybody in Europe knows how good she is, so if she can come here and conquer America it would be something fantastic". From there, I just bided my time with her. "She came out of the race well and Mark and (owners Penny and Manfred Conrad) will have to talk about what is next for her".

Bulletin won at first asking at Gulfstream Park Sept. 29 in the Hollywood Beach Stakes, leading all the way to a 7-lengths victory over firm turf.
