Dead In California Wildfire, Hollywood Celebs Evacuated

Sadly, when 27,000 residents are ordered to evacuate in a matter of hours, there's little that can be done to ensure every resident gets out safely.

Butte County CalFire Chief Darren Read said at a news conference that two firefighters and multiple residents were injured.

Also burning farther west in Ventura County was the Hill Fire, which fire officials said burned almost 4,050 hectares by Thursday night.

Less Sun and more rain should normally see any potential blazes put out before they get the chance to rise.

Raging fires can be seen burning through the terrain on both sides of the road during Chatfield's distressing drive, and a passenger in the auto can be heard saying a prayer for safety.

With the Camp Fire still raging, Butte County school officials have chose to close all public schools until at least after the Thanksgiving break.

The massive blaze spread north Friday, prompting officials to order the evacuation of Stirling City and Inskip, two communities north of Paradise along the Sierra Nevada foothills.

'It was just a wall of fire on each side of us, and we could hardly see the road in front of us, ' he added. At this point, firefighters are trying to save lives and not property, which should tell you all you need to know about how risky the situation is.

One woman, Kim Curtis, said she was searching for her grandmother, a woman in her 70s who had said she was fleeing with her cat but had failed to turn up at an arranged meeting point and was not contactable.

Adding to the complexity of the disaster is tonight the district's youth convention is being held at Trinity Life Center in Sacramento - a destination city for numerous thousands evacuating fire-threatened communities.

Residents of Paradise, California, are talking about narrow escapes from their burning homes as a wildfire rapidly approached.

The Utah County crew will be deployed a minimum 16 days and up to 21 days, Nelson said, meaning once again they'll miss Thanksgiving at home. "My home is in jeopardy but. everything with a heartbeat is safe", she said.

On social media many people posted anxious messages about elderly relatives who lived near the fire and were missing, urging authorities to assist them in evacuating. "And just praying for a miracle, honestly", Ms Curtis said.

"They are fine", she said. It's like we're all walking around kind of in a trance'.

Twitter and Facebook users reported friends and loved ones living in Paradise who were unaccounted for. Within six hours, it had grown to more than 26 square miles (69 square kilometres), Gaddie said.

The wildfire in the county started early Thursday morning and quickly spread after winds fueled the flames.

Some of the patients were initially turned around during their evacuation because of gridlocked traffic and later airlifted to other hospitals, along with staff, Kinney said.

"It's very chaotic", Officer Ryan Lambert of the California Highway Patrol. The big wildfire here in Southern California, known as the "Woolsey Fire", quadrupled in size by Friday evening, covering more than 22 square miles, with no containment.
