Kemp opens hacking investigation into Georgia Democrats 2 days before election

Kemp is trying to prevent Democrats from establishing Georgia as a legitimate presidential battleground state.

"I'm encouraged to see so many young voters showing up at the polls, and I'm also encouraged to see that we have a growing pool of independent voters who I think will break for democrats during this election", she said.

The Office of Georgia Secretary of State Brian Kemp, facing multiple claims of voter suppression, announced an investigation into the Democratic Party of Georgia over an alleged hacking attempt into the voter registration system.

Oprah Winfrey delivers an impassioned speech for Democratic candidate Stacey Abrams who is running in a tight race for Governor in Georgia.

Also rallying behind Ms Abrams is former president Barack Obama and Hollywood names such as Will Ferrel and Mark Ruffalo, who have all campaigned in the midterm elections runup.

Media mogul Oprah Winfrey campaigned for Abrams this week on Thursday by knocking on doors with the potential governor and giving a speech - and she she was accused of some serious race-baiting because of it. "I paid for myself and I approve this message".

Abrams, a former minority leader in the state house, who would be the first non-white, non-male governor of Georgia and the first female African American governor in U.S. history. But she also said the election is about issues like expanding Medicaid insurance and focusing state spending on public education, job training and small business startups. "I absolutely am voting for her", Denise replied.

Among that "onslaught", Winfrey blasted Republican ads she'd seen in her hotel room casting Abrams as too radical for the state, calling it "noise...created to confound you with fear".

On Saturday, it was reported that racist robocalls bankrolled by white supremacists were targeting Abrams and Winfrey.

"These automated calls are being sent into homes just days before President Trump arrives, reminding voters exactly who is promoting a political climate that celebrates this kind of vile, poisonous thinking", said Abrams' spokeswoman Abigail Collazo.

Abigail Collazo, Abrams' director of strategic communications, condemned the robocall and said both Trump and Kemp have contributed to a poisonous atmosphere, adding that Kemp has responded with silence on previous racial attacks on Abrams.

The Republican Party has held Georgia's governor position since 2003.
