Maori welcoming ceremony held for Harry and Meghan in Rotorua

Meghan Markle wore a stylish cobalt blue Givenchy short-sleeve sweater with a knit skirt and suede, navy heels.

Bodysuits under sheer layers are nothing new when it comes to red carpet dressing, but for a royal, it's certainly a step in a new direction and had some fans worrying that Markle had suffered a wardrobe malfunction.

Rain, wind and a distant quake didn't seem to dampen the enthusiasm of New Zealanders who turned out to see Prince Harry and wife Meghan on Tuesday.

Kensington Palace today posted a picture of Meghan meeting a little toddler who hugged her tight, and the picture is winning the internet.

Hannah posted a video on Twitter that showed how thrilled Meghan was to see her old friend.

Meghan followed Ms Sergel back on Instagram in January 2016 and would comment on her photos and give encouraging messages to her.

"She would tell me to do well at university and encourage me to be myself". She was so lovely and kind about it all despite being rushed.

"[Mostly it was] just small talk about what was going on in my life really".

For Meghan Markle though, she's managed to keep her dignity intact for the most part.

A woman who says the Duchess of Sussex supported her through her struggles with mental health by chatting to her on Instagram has said she was "overwhelmed" to meet the royal during her overseas tour.

The public walkabout in Auckland took place on the third day of the royal couple's tour of New Zealand. On Sunday, the Duchess wore a white tuxedo dress by New Zealand designer Maggie Marilyn during an event in Wellington.

The Duchess of Sussex proved her relatability on Wednesday when she and her husband, Prince Harry, visited New Zealand as the final stop on their 16-day royal tour.
