Mourinho makes big statement about Man United's Premier League chances

Chris Smalling believes Manchester United's revival is being inspired by the rediscovery of the resilience that was the hallmark of their golden era under Sir Alex Ferguson.

Marcus Rashford's dramatic late victor capped Manchester United's fightback as they maintained their recent revival with a 2-1 win against Bournemouth on Saturday.

Massimiliano Allegri praised Cristiano Ronaldo's leadership skills as Juventus beat Cagliari 3-1 for their 10th win in 11 games to maintain their six-point cushion at the top of Serie A on Saturday.

The Red Devils trailed to an early Callum Wilson goal at the Vitality Stadium before in-form Frenchman Anthony Martial pulled them level going into half-time.

After appearing to soak up the pressure well in the second half, it took until added time before United claimed the win despite a valiant defensive effort from the hosts, and will point to chances in the first half as to where they can improve going forward.

"We were ready for everything, I can't understand the mentality that brings me more white hair!"

It always helps getting a win to prepare for the next game.

But victory at the start of a run that sees United also face away games against Juventus in the Champions League and rivals Manchester City in the Premier League boosted the Portuguese, who strongly criticised his team's first-half showing.

"We have to stick together".

"All credit to them for sticking in the game during that first period because it couldn't have been easy with the way we played and how hard it was to defend our attacking players".

Winger Ryan Fraser insists Bournemouth will continue to attack the Premier League's leading powers in the coming weeks.

"Juve have shown they don't concede many goals and hopefully we can get on the front foot".

"I am trying to find the balance where we develop the team in the second, third phase of attack".

"Manchester United used to start games quickly and maintain their momentum for 90 minutes, but this team seem to play in fits and starts and that will not be good enough to get them where they want to be". A lot of our aspects of our play were very good, especially in that opening period.

"I think Herrera made a big difference to the team".
