Sixers' Fultz to see shoulder specialists this week

Examinations of Philadelphia 76ers guard Markelle Fultz's right shoulder will extend through Wednesday in NY and no decision on his next steps is expected until later in the week, league sources told ESPN. They've already had trade discussions about the troubled former No. 1 draft pick.

Per ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski and the Philadelphia Inquirer's Keith Pompey, Fultz will be seeing several specialists this week about the shoulder injury. In addition, The Athletic also reported that Fultz would "prefer a fresh start with a new team" as he works through these latest round of issues. Not much was revealed other than that, but it was the first major report of another team being interested in Fultz.

76ers guard Markelle Fultz is the subject of trade talks between Philadelphia and the Cleveland Cavaliers, according to reports.

In the midst of the Miami Heat looking for its next big star, Chris Sheridan of Sheridan Hoops reported that James Johnson, Wayne Ellington, and Rodney McGruder would less than likely be included in a deal for Markelle Fultz. And if a team comes to the Sixers with a deal that's even remotely tempting, then they probably wouldn't hesitate to take it. Realistically, it looks like Fultz played his final minutes with the Sixers last week, but we'll see if anything changes in the meantime.

Regardless of what they are asking for in exchange for Fultz, the Sixers have no choice but to make a move sooner than later.

McConnell is 6-foot-2 and is averaging 3.9 points and 2.4 assists in 16 appearances this season. He can become a free agent after 2018-19.
