Amanda Nunes Shoots Down Possibility of Third Fight with Valentina Shevchenko

Amanda Nunes Shoots Down Possibility of Third Fight with Valentina Shevchenko

UFC 232 took place Saturday at The Forum in Inglewood, Calif. Jones vs. Gustafsson headlined the pay-per-view main card following prelims on FS1 and UFC Fight Pass. "The Lioness" dispatched Cyborg, who hadn't lost since 2005, in under a minute. As she moved forward again, Nunes rotated away from the fence, dropped Justino to her knees with a left hook and then knocked her out cold with an overhand right.

Amanda Nunes' 51-second knockout of long-time featherweight champion Cris Cyborg was about as one-sided a fight as you'll get in mixed martial arts.

Yet the long road to finally getting what she deserved was consistent with Nunes' evolution as a fighter, rebounding from a 2014 TKO defeat against Cat Zingano, in which her lack of cardio was exposed, to become the well-rounded and risky fighter she is today.

He tweeted UFC bantamweight champion and co-commentator Dominick Cruz: "You just said outside of all the testing stuff. I'm here. I'll be waiting", he said in his post-fight interview. Nunes buckled Justino's knees in the opening seconds, and she eventually knocked down Justino twice.

Jones defeated Sweden's Alexander Gustafsson on his return to the octagon following a 17-month absence, reclaiming the title he had been stripped of previous year.

The only woman in the history of UFC to hold two championshipsWhat's the story? Nunes is the first female fighter in the UFC to win titles in multiple weight classes and just the third ever to be a double-champion, joining Conor McGregor and Daniel Cormier. "But soon you guys are going to know".

Nunes (17-4), who remains in the midst of her physical prime at age 30, seemed to finally capture the hearts of MMA fans by how violently she demolished Justino (20-2, 1 NC), the reigning "baddest woman on the planet". Come get a taste.

Closing out a fight week chock-full of controversy, with a drug test abnormality from Jones forcing the entire card to switch states, "Bones" returned in stunning fashion by claiming a third-round TKO victory over Gustafsson this weekend. "I'm just happy with my belt, and for now I want to go back to the gym and improve my game".
