Prince Charles will attend George H.W. Bush’s funeral

The late president's service dog, Sully, also visited the casket Tuesday.

She is in Washington for the state funeral of her father-in-law, former President George H.W. Bush, who died last week at age 94.

Later in the evening, after the family and dignitaries had departed, President Donald Trump and first lady Melania Trump paid their respects, standing for two minutes before the casket.

"There will be much more that I will want to say about President Bush's legacy in the days and weeks to come as we honor his memory".

As crowds began to gather outside, a ceremony was held inside the rotunda where Capitol Hill's highest-ranking Republican and Democratic lawmakers joined together in paying tribute to the former President.

Christine Dube, who lives in Vermont, but travels to DC periodically for work, said she believes Bush was from an era where people did "the right thing and you care about America and that comes first".

Bush's son George W. Bush, who became president eight years after his father left office, will be among those delivering eulogies at the funeral.

Upon his death, Queen Elizabeth II also released a statement. Here's more on just how well the Prince of Wales actually knew George H.W. Bush. The service will take place tomorrow at The National Cathedral in Washington.

Nasdaq also observed a moment of silence, displayed a message honoring Bush on the Nasdaq Tower in Times Square and announced a Wednesday closure.

"Resolute through war, President Bush was magnanimous in peace", Mr. Trump said. The 95-year-old Dole, who uses a wheelchair, was helped to his feet by an aide and saluted the former commander in chief. Dole was a member of the U.S. Army while Bush was a U.S. Navy pilot.
