Manny Pacquiao defeats Adrien Broner by unanimous decision

Manny Pacquiao's return to the United States has him face off against four-division champion Adrien Broner in boxing's first major fight of 2019.

With Mayweather watching from ringside, Pacquiao showed flashes of his old speed in winning a unanimous 12-round decision over Broner to easily defend his piece of the welterweight title.

Two judges scored the bout 116-112 in favour of Pacquiao, while the third had the Filipino Senator a 117-111 victor.

In the early rounds, Pacquiao came out firing, charging at Broner again and again with jabs and flurries to the body.

"At the age of 40 I can still give my best", Pacquiao said". Immediately Jack stopped, but once more, after another timeout, it was agreed he could continue.

"I wanted to push more but my trainer said "do not be careless, wait for him and you counter", Pacquiao said.

Pacquiao, whose pro career stretches back 24 years, showed he still has the speed that carried him over his spectacular career. "Everybody knows I beat him", he added.

Judges Tim Cheatham (116-112), Glenn Feldman (116-112) and Dave Moretti (117-111) all scored Pacquiao a decisive victor over Broner.

“Im happy to be back here and Im happy to be fight tomorrow night, ” expressed Pacquiao who turned 40 years old last month.

Asked about his age by Showtimes Jim Gray, Pacquiao who is fighting in the 70th bout of his legendary career stated that he feels young despite being 40.
