Meghan Markle reveals royal baby due in April

The Duchess of Sussex has revealed she does not know if she is expecting a girl or a boy and confirmed she is six months pregnant, with her baby due at the end of April or beginning of May.

As Meghan settles into royal life, she has been undertaking solo appearances, but joined her husband in the town of Birkenhead in Merseyside to visit several community centres, and meet local military veterans and young people.

"We asked her how her pregnancy was going and she said she was six months and she tapped her tummy", Carla Gandy from Wallasey tells PEOPLE. "I asked her how she was coping on those high heels".

Clutching her growing baby bump, the duchess braved chilly conditions in Birkenhead to spend 40 minutes shaking the hands of well-wishers who wanted to know the answers to the questions on the minds of all royal fans. Many Meghan fashion watchers wondered if this was her attempt to blend in and acquiesce to palace expectations, being but a humble newcomer.

Markle also reportedly asked Midgely, who is 23 and pregnant with a baby girl, how far along she was in her pregnancy, then responded, "So soon!"

Meghan, 37, was dressed in a purple dress from Babaton by Aritzia, a cheery red coat from Sentaler and matching red Stuart Weitzman pumps. She also told another person she was now six months pregnant. The bronze statue, named after one of Owen's poems, Futility, shows an exhausted World War I soldier.

Meghan Markle turned heads today with a clashing colour-block outfit of purple and red - that might have been a nod to Princess Diana.

"I would say that I would lift it for you but neither of us should be lifting right now", Markle said to Midgely, according to multiple outlets.

They also paid a visit to women's charity Tomorrow's Women in Wirral and were even treated to a dance performance by junior dance troop The Hive from Wirral Youth Zone.
