Pochettino not anticipating any January arrivals at Tottenham

Chelsea have announced the side and substitutes to go into battle with Tottenham Hotspur in the first leg of their EFL Cup semi-final tie this evening at Wembley.

That's according to former Arsenal star Charlie Nicholas, who believes have Spurs the edge in tonight's first leg at Wembley (8pm).

"While it's hard sometimes to work out what Sarri will do, I think Eden Hazard will play".

Sarri and Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino are seeking the first major trophies of their careers.

"Here (in England) everything is really, really very hard".

"Pochettino has never won a trophy so it's massive for Spurs, far more important than it is for Chelsea. I think he played really well in the last match". "He needs to rest I think".

Here at SunSport we have you covered if you don't have that option, with our LIVE BLOG talking you through all the talking points as they happen. "The most important thing is the way we approach the game, our mentality... we need to fight for every ball". I realised that the match against Tottenham is a very important match for the club, the fans and the players.

Sarri even compared the much-derided League Cup with the Champions League, given the calibre of opposition in Chelsea's way.

Blues supporters have been under the spotlight in recent weeks after a number of high-profile incidents, including a derogatory chant about Spurs supporters that featured alleged anti-Semitic language at a Europa League match in Hungary last month.

Cesc Fabregas will also be absent, having been excused from Cobham on Monday to finalise a January transfer to Monaco after bidding a tearful farewell to Stamford Bridge in Saturday's 2-0 win over Nottingham Forest in the FA Cup third round.

Chelsea's preparations for the match have been less than ideal with Pedro, Willian and Olivier Giroud all facing late fitness tests following injuries and Ruben Loftus-Cheek ruled out with lingering back pain.
