Singer under investigation following revelations in documentary — Surviving R Kelly

Following the release of Part 1 of the Surviving R. Kelly docuseries on Lifetime on the U.S., R. Kelly's legal team sent a letter warning the company that should the six-part docuseries air as intended, Kelly would file a federal lawsuit. Since the show ended in the USA on Saturday, January 5, reports have emerged of what R Kelly has reportedly said about the series.

Surviving R Kelly is from Kreativ Inc, the prodco backed by Banijay Group's Bunim/Murray Productions, and is exec produced by critic Dream Hampton, Brie Miranda Bryant, Joel Karsberg and Jesse Daniels.

The documentary has given a boost to the #MuteRKelly hashtag, which is part of an ongoing social media campaign for listeners to boycott Kelly's music.

Last July, Kelly penned a 19-minute song in response to the numerous allegations against him.

I heard the same kind of defense when Kelly was prosecuted for allegedly taping himself having sex with a 14-year-old girl. His lawyer has threatened to sue Lifetime over the series, TMZ reported.

It's not clear who set up the Facebook account, but TMZ claimed Kelly and his team were planning to launch a website called has contacted R Kelly's representatives for comment about the claims. Artists like R. Kelly.

It appears that Asante McGee, who was featured in the docuseries, is the first target to be exposed by R. Kelly.

Despite decades of allegations of sexual abuse levied against the superstar, the music world has continued to celebrate the controversial singer-and downloads of his tracks have increased as well. The promoters and bookers who continue bring Kelly out to perform should be held accountable as well.

Surviving R Kelly features a number of interviews with famous faces closely connected to the singer. Shortly after clips of his appearance in the series were released, the singer responded to fans applauding his involvement. The program follows the sexual assault allegations against Kelly, including interviews with Kelly's ex-wife and his accusers.

Surviving R Kelly will air in the United Kingdom on Tuesday, February 5, at 10pm on Lifetime.
