White Man Kills Black Girl, 7, In Drive-By Shooting, Police Say

Four other girls, ages 7 to 15 years old, were also in the vehicle.

LaPorsha Washington spoke from her hospital bed after she was injured and her 7-year-old daughter Jazmine Barnes was fatally shot outside of a Houston Walmart.

The girl, whom police have not yet publicly named, was killed around 7am on Sunday in a auto alongside her mother and three sisters as the vehicle exited the Walmart on Wallisville Road in northeast Houston.

Cevilla said his daughter was "loving, caring, very passionate with people, very sweet, just a innocent young girl, very smart in school".

Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez said in posts on social media that Jazmine Barnes along with her mother 30-year-old LaPorsha Washington, as well as three teenage girls were in a auto when the attack happened.

The red pickup fled the scene.

"Please keep this family in your prayers", Gonzalez tweeted Sunday night.

"Of course they're shaken, they're devastated, they lost a sister", Razo said. A total of 5 occupants in the auto witnessed this innocent child, their loved one, shot and killed before their eyes.

Razo said his department will continue to investigate the incident and "use all of our resources to bring this killer to justice". Jesse Razo says the mother was also struck in the arm in the Sunday morning shooting.

Razo added that investigators planned to review surveillance videos from the entire area.

The shooter is described as a white male with a beard in his 40s, driving a red pickup truck.

He urged the suspect to surrender. "And I urge you, whoever did this, you know who you are, please turn yourself in now because we will be looking for you, we will locate you, we will find you".

The 30-year-old Washington was expected to recover from her wound.
