Apex Legends: How to Play Solo & Duos

Apex Legends is free to play and is available now on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC through EA's Origin service.

In Apex Legends, 20 squads of three players each face off in a large map created to foster both close-quarters and long range combat. Going free-to-play wasn't enough, though, and EA and Sony made the game even more accessible by removing the PS Plus barrier for Sony's 90 million strong install base. Instead, you'll play as one of eight different soldier classes, each with their own unique special abilities.

Last week during an event for Apex Legends, the game's design director Mackey McCandlish, the core Titanfall team is working on Apex and there were no other projects in development. Respawn has also stated that first season for Apex Legends will begin in March.

"There are some people who think there are too many battle royale games or it's a fad, the world thinks we're making Titanfall 3 and we're not - this is what we're making".

This afternoon, Zampella took to Twitter to talk about the exciting plans that Respawn has moving forward for Apex Legends. The first and most obvious difference is that there are no Titans, the lumbering, powerful mechs that players can pilot in the Titanfall series.

What kinds of microtransactions and in-game currencies are there?

It seems Apex Legends is already a hit and the game has only just been released.

Players can increase their Player Level by earning XP from playing matches.

Respawn has been careful to stress the fact that Apex Legends isn't a true sequel to Titanfall 2, though it's the same universe.

"While players with the minimum specifications will be able to play Apex Legends just fine, those looking to get the best possible experience will want to ensure they meet the recommended specs for smooth 60fps gameplay".
