Apex Legends player count hits 10 million, over 1 million concurrent players

Apex Legends has hit the ground (and walls) running, with over 2.5 million players in the first 24 hours. Now, here I am, just three days into the lifespan of Apex Legends, telling you that Respawn's game has exceeded the 10 million player mark already.

Update: Something that we missed initially is that Apex also pushed past the 1 million concurrent players point. Respawn's Vince Zampella wrote a brief note to players on the game's site that announced the big numbers and thanked the community for its support. Apex Legends is their latest game, but it was more of a merry experiment really as the game initially started off as a Battle Royale mode for Titanfall.

It'll be hard for Apex Legends to beat the eventual records hit by PUBG and Fortnite, which have racked up hundreds of millions of players. It's still at the top of Twitch right now, with over 90k viewers at the time of writing, compared to Fornite's 36k, in sixth position. "But we fell in love with Apex Legends and wanted, needed, other people to play it too", he said.

Respawn, the developers of the Titanfall series, dropped Apex Legends earlier this week with no marketing and no mention, but that hasn't stopped the game from gaining popularity.

Not only did the Apex Legends player base reach 10 million players total, but the Apex Legends concurrent players number has breached over one million!

That's not an accident either, as publisher EA has purposefully courted major streamers such as Dr. Disrespect, Sacriel, TSM_Myth, and shroud with prize-funded competitions. "We'll be exploring rotating or staggered tournament schedules in the future to include more players".

This number nearly tripled within the day, garnering a total of over 2.5 million unique players in just 24 hours.
