Carmelo Anthony Waived by Bulls, Will Enter Free-Agent Market

According to ESPN, the Lakers remain "a real possibility" as Anthony's next destination to join long-time pal LeBron James.

Anthony was never asked to report to the Bulls after they acquired him from the Rockets on January 22nd.

Carmelo Anthony will be searching for another National Basketball Association team.

The Bulls sent a protected second-round pick of the 2020 NBA Draft to OKC, and in return received guard/forward Timothe Luwawu-Cabarrot and cash considerations.

The Bulls have waived the former All-Star forward, clearing the way for him to become a free agent. It was a long time coming for the Bulls as Anthony has been on the sidelines since the first week of the National Basketball Association season.

As the National Basketball Association trade deadline fast approaches, teams are starting to make deals with greater frequency.

Luwawu-Cabarrot, the 24th pick in 2016, averaged 16.5 minutes in 121 games over two seasons with the 76ers.

Anthony, who signed a one-year, $2.4 million minimum deal prior to the season, has not played since November 8 and appeared in only 10 games with Houston.

He was entirely out of the rotation with the Thunder, appearing in 21 games, the last nine of which have come in mop-up duty. The Rockets signed Anthony to a one-year deal after he was bought out by the Atlanta Hawks following a three-team trade with the Thunder during the offseason.
