Milwaukee Bucks acquire Nikola Mirotic from New Orleans Pelicans

Since Wednesday's deal was never made official, the Pelicans were able to jump in and alter the trade a bit, giving Milwaukee the ultimate prize but adding a plethora of picks to their cupboard of assets for the inevitable rebuild.

The New Orleans Pelicans have traded Nikola Mirotic to the Milwaukee Bucks in exchange for Jason Smith and Stanley Johnson, according to ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski and Zach Lowe.

Anthony Davis's impending trade isn't really going anywhere, with the Pelicans not ready to give into the "stupendous offer" given by the Lakers. According to sources, the Pelicans will receive second-round picks from the Bucks in 2019 (via Denver), two in 2020 (via Washington and Milwaukee) and 2021 (via Washington).

It's a big deal for the Bucks as they try to create even more space for their star. In 32 games this season, he is averaging career highs in points (16.7) and rebounds (8.3). He was the eighth overall pick in the 2015 draft. He's averaging 3.2 points and 2.7 rebounds per game overall this season.

This deal makes the Bucks extremely strong in the East and make them a very strong contender for the National Basketball Association title this season.
